Amsterdam bids farewell to HEPiX

We look back on a successful Autumn Workshop, with lots of attendence and many contributions. The local team wishes everybody a safe homeward journey, or, for those who stay for the SOC workshop, a pleasant continuation of their visit to Amsterdam.

It has been our privilege and pleasure to receive so many kind and bright people from all over the world, and to see them engage in discussions and sharing ideas to help shape the future of computing in data intensive science.

We hope to see everybody again in good spirit and health at a future workshop!

End of Early Birds discount

HEPiX Autumn 2019 is drawing closer, so it is time to start making plans. Amsterdam awaits you!

If you wish to come but you have not registered yet, please hurry up! The early-birds discount ended on 15 September. The registration will close on 7 October. You can still register at full-price at https://indico.cern.ch/e/hepix-autumn2019/.

Thanks to our gracious sponsors food, drinks, and public transportation are all taken care of. We have something special lined up for the banquet as well, but we’ll keep that a surprise for the moment. And while you are making your travel arrangements, don’t forget to submit an abstract (or two) for the workshop. I’m sure there is plenty to talk about that is interesting for all to hear. Let’s make this a fruitful as well as an enjoyable meeting with plenty of knowledge exchange!

Last of all I want to plug the special interest meeting on Friday afternoon; outside of the official HEPiX program we’ll discuss the end of CREAM support and how to move to ARC instead. If you currently run CREAM and don’t know what to do with it next year, or if you are already running ARC and would like to talk about it, please stick around on the Friday afternoon. I hope to see you all in Amsterdam.

Registration now open

Dear HEPiX Community,

as of today it is possible to register for the HEPiX autumn workshop in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, held from 14th to 18th October 2019.

The workshop will be held at the Amsterdam Science Park Congress Centre and is hosted by Nikhef.

There is a room capacity limit of 150 participants and it is first come, first served, so register soon!

Early registrants also benefit from the ‘early birds’ fee of €200 instead of the full fee of €300. The deadline for early birds registration is 15th september 2019.

Thanks to our generous sponsors we will have a social event on Monday 14th October and a Conference dinner on Wednesday 16th October free of charge. Registrants who wish to bring a partner to the Conference dinner can indicate this on the registration form at an additional charge of €50.

The abstract submission has opened as well and we encourage participants to contribute to the programme.

As a reminder, an ARC-CE workshop is planned for Friday 18th October in the afternoon. And starting Monday 21th October, a Security Operations Centre (SOC) workshop will be held at Nikhef. It is expected that security-related issues will be covered late during the HEPiX workshop to ease participation to both HEPiX and the SOC workshop.

If you have any questions, please contact the local organizing committee (hepix-2019autumn-support@hepix.org). We are looking forward to seeing you in Amsterdam in October!
